Do you have a great song that you really want to get out to a larger audience via a broadcast and/or online platform? Then NZ On Air may be able to help with a funding contribution towards a quality recording of the song and a music video to help promote it.
NZ On Air can offer a contribution towards recording costs of up to $4,000 + GST, and $6,000 + GST towards the cost of a music video. There is a mandatory contribution required from the applicant of a further $2,000 + GST for the music video.
But before NZ On Air can help, we need to ensure you have done plenty of ground work in generating a real buzz for your act already. Building a fan base is a vital step in getting your music noticed. It's also important to set up a structure around you whereby you can effectively promote the music you make to connect with significant audiences.
There is a set of criteria over the following pages which you must work through before you can apply for funding for a song.
For your reference you can view all these criteria on a single page here [pdf].
Please note, you must be able to tick yes to at least 10 of these criteria (and be able to provide proof where required) to go on to apply for funding with a song. If you come up short then you may have some work to do before you can apply for NZ On Air funding. See Q & A for more info.
Some of these criteria are mandatory [*] ie. you must be able to tick this box in order to complete an application. Please only tick the criteria that apply to you and that you can provide evidence for. There is a field next to each Criteria question where you can type in your response (maximum 300 text characters per response)
